The Devil And The Angel

Chapter 3 :::

I awoke the next day and I was lying in a hospital bed with a bandage on my head. I was still dizzy and my vision was blurry.

"Anna!" Kendal exclaimed running beside me, "me and your mum have been watching the news all night. No sign of Lola,"

I sighed. "Ok. I'm going to find her!" I exclaimed. I got up but immediately had to sit down again. I was too dizzy to walk.

"The doctor says: your to stay bed until noon!" Kendal giggled in his best British accent. We both giggled but I soon stopped. I was too upset to be happy.

"Where's mum?" I asked.

"She went to talk to the police and firemen. They know its a bomb now but don't know who set it off,"

"Right," I said trying to hide my emotions, "sit with me."

Kendal came and sat on my bed until mum came back. She came back with 3 bags containing takeaway Chinese food from the cafe below.

"Thanks," I smiled taking my food and sitting up slowly, "any luck?"

"No baby. Nothing. How you feeling?" She asked pulling two chairs to my bed for her and Kendal.

"Dizzy. Kendal says I'm allowed out at 3:00pm," I sighed.

My mum looked at the clock, "3 hours to go, then, honey,"

I smiled and reached for my phone. I hadn't looked at it since yesterday, when Kendal arrived.

1 NEW MESSAGE

I LOVE YOU FOR SLWAYS FORGIVING ME. I WISH I WAS THE GOOD ONE SORRY
LOLA XXXXXXXXXX

I tried to forget about the message and carried on eating my lunch.

"Got to get off to work, hon. I'll see you at 7," my mum smiled, sadly. She collected in the rubbish and walked away.

I passed Kendal my phone and showed him the message. He held me close and kissed my forehead.

"She loved you. She still does. Lola's strong! She's out there, snacking on the chocolate in her pocket and playing on her phone. Waiting to be rescued. She is- trust me," he smiled, a tear in his eye.

"I do," I whispered hugging him tighter.

That was pretty much how we stayed until 3. I fell back asleep and Kendal lay with me, playing with my hair.

When it was 3 a doctor came in. He gave me some tablets and let me go.

I packed my stuff and got into Kendal's blue convertible.

"Where to, Anne?" he asked.

"Kendal. It's Anna- not Anne. I don't call you Ken, do I? Anyway, take me to Ebony Hill," I said- half sternly.

"No, we're not going there," he said, back to me.

"I need to find her. I need to Kendal. She's Lola. Strong. But still needs to be cared for. We're going- and if your not then I'll take a taxi!" I shouted, making my head hurt.

Kendal said nothing but turned on the engine. I had won. I was going to find her even if its the last thing I do. And at this rate- it probably would be... Lola here we come.
