Hush

Hush little girl, go back to sleep.
You're dreaming again, that's all,
That men in black robes are on the creep
With monsters roaming the hall.

Plotting and scheming to make your home
A poisonous house of pain,
With faceless "people" running the show,
The robber barons again.

Sold to the highest bidder it seems,
Your water and earth and skies.
Say goodbye to American dreams
And say hello to the lies.

We're a third world country here on out,
Elections only a sham.
Middle class left without any clout,
Just chumps in the corporate scam.

Schools in ruins and bridges a wreck
And health care just getting worse.
Wages continue getting depressed,
This limo's turned into a hearse.

Hush, little girl, go back to sleep,
Get as much as you can take.
You'll need your strength to try to defeat
The nightmare when you awake.

Compelling piece & sadly all too real😔

@Fly10 We had a disturbing Supreme Court ruling today that stops states from being able to limit corporate donations in state elections. It has me pretty bummed out.

Good one😘

Superb 😜

@Fly10 I agree! 🙍

Really fab, darkly real write👌👌👍👍

@VikingHorn God! There is no end to it and it's the children I worry about too. Wonderful piece but so depressing! 😠

@misslittleDHP @crowncottage @glen @RichWithey @ckahn Thanks for the reposts, everyone! And even though it is ominous, there's a hint of hope in this as well. There's going to be a lot to fix and struggle against for the upcoming generation, but with our guidance and encouragement they may be up the task. They need something to strive for anyway, right? I'm starting to think my old age way well hold some violent protests, though.

@VikingHorn I don't know if you read any of the stuff I have posted for Tom May but he spent years protesting, it didn't seem to achieve much but we have to go on trying!

Corruption all round then! Sickening stuff isn't it? My other half works in law, dealing with major fraud cases....unbelievable what goes on. Guess it's always been the same though hasn't it. Bribes, debauchery & extortion since long before the Peasants Revolt! You're right though, it angers me for my children to have to swim through such a tide of shite😠

Brilliant! 💞

@VikingHorn excellent sir 👍😊

@Fly10 Yes, there certainly have always been scoundrels and cheats and I know there always will be. That doesn't bother me all that much, though I don't think it's too much to hope for things to improve even if they never are perfect. What angers me is backsliding, re-breaking things we already fixed once. We've seen the girls locked in the textile factory as it burned to the ground, we've seen the diseased cattle dragged into the slaughterhouse, too infected to walk, we've seen the financial devastation wrought from unbridled speculation, and what do we say.

@Fly10 Oops, not finished. "We don't need no stinking rules anymore!" Right. Greedy people will always do bad things, but corporations are not people. They are not evil, but they are amoral, and legally required to be so. They have an obligation to serve the monetary interests of stockholders above all else. Would we ever consider a person who held acquisition of wealth above friendship, family, community and social well being to be a trustworthy steward? It's insane to ask corporations to be anything other than what they are. As people, they are psychopaths. Let them be business entities (that need regulation) and leave it at that.
