I'm A Man

I'm a man, I'm an ape and a primate.
I'm a mammal and an air breathing vertebrate,
A multicellular eukaryote,
And my family is billions of years old.

I'm a man, a collection of atoms,
Oft exchanged, yet arranged in a pattern
That's described by an intricate code
Passed down in 46 chromosomes.

I'm a man, I'm a runner and a hunter,
Bred to track and pursue my quarry under
The sun on the plains of ancient Africa.
I provide with my eyes and brains and stamina.

I'm a man, I'm a storm of emotion
That underpins every motivation.
I'm aware, a moral agent making choices,
The result of my internal voices.

I'm a man, and I seek to comprehend
The universe I find myself within.
My mind is at home among the stars,
Reaching out through time and space, near and far.

@wolfie Here we go, let's see if this takes!

Brilliant!!!! 💚✨💚✨💚

Mind blowing stuff! Superb 👏😌😘

@naaviie Just getting in after your hot night out? Check out my Sexy Underwear if you want a good chortle before sleep.

@Fly10 Thank you so much! Wolfie suggested we start a #science category, and this is something I was working on that I thought might fit. And now I'm noticing a typo, my family is way older than that!

I'm in awe of these pieces, perhaps because I find the whole thing slightly overwhelming if I think about it too much (& also because I paid NO attention to this subject in school😖). In this piece, you've managed to make it REAL if you know what I mean? I loved it😌

Wow! You are the man! 😍

Awesome 👍

@Fly10 Thank you very much for that! If you want to see a lot of science topics made real, check out The History of Almost Everything by Bill Bryson. It's extremely well written and very lay man friendly. He had your issue in school, and after becoming an excellent writer, started wondering again about all these deep, interesting questions that schooling killed the thirst for.

@VikingHorn that's pretty damn cool stuff there. Love the total absence of political correctness. ☺

@yowwa Thanks, but I don't understand what political correctness has to do with simple reality. Though maybe that's your point. Though I avoided making any claims about anything debatable, like the existence of gods.

@VikingHorn well said that man.

Hey man. You get my vote.

I'm def going to check out that Bill Bryson book...I love the depth to your writes...you could teach me soooo much as you are fantastically knowledgable ....like the lovely @fly10...I never paid much attention in science...although it fascinates me...school was merely a social thing for me...it's only as I've got older that such things interest...it's the same with history too....a wonderful write👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟💛💛💛💛

@misslittleDHP You'll love that book, then, you are precisely who he wrote it for.
