Long grey fingers pull sharply at my hair,
Running through the night,
The forest sounds, sending chills down my spine,
As I make my hasty flight
A winding path, of fallen twigs,
I find through the dark trees,
Boughs snap and leaves crunch,
Branches scrape my knees
The forest, once a calming place,
Now a beast waiting to strike,
Birds cry, see their sharp red eyes,
Wind howls, tree limbs so knifelike
I make my way, on weary feet,
Unnoticed, a nobody,
Running from my haunting past,
I blindly attempt to flee
This is it, no going back,
A new life waits ahead,
Anything will do, away from you,
Away from where you've tread
I've given up, your lies are plain,
No longer can I be kept,
Locked up in your prison cell,
Drowning in all your secrets
So cast me out, let me go,
Dispell me from your mind,
For I will not return, never again,
Not in this age or time
I'm taking the freedom that's rightfully mine,
The freedom I've yearned for, since so long,
You can't stop me, I'm setting free,
And this time I will be strong
