Rusted Necklace

Two new necklaces
With little silver hearts.
I got them for us
To say we'll never be apart.

We're confused little children,
But we sure had fun!
Up all night camping,
Running round in the sun.

I remember our songs,
All the lyrics in our heads.
And the books and fairytales,
The stories we read!

Then came the winter,
The cold and the grey.
That was the week that
You were ripped away.

Different schools
Seem like different worlds.
But we're two of a kind,
The same sort of girls.

I open my jewelry box,
And look what I find!
That rusted old necklace
That slipped from my mind.
