The Two Knights

There once was a young Princess,
There also was a Beast.
The couple weren't alike at all,
One was furry, to say the least.

There once was a knight,
Gallant and brave.
There was just one thing he wanted;
So the princess he must save.

There also was a richer man,
He wanted the girl to be;
The ruler of his Kingdom,
If you like; The Queen Bee.

The men journeyed together,
Their arguments soon dead.
One would take the Princess,
While the other; the Beast's head.

The sprint to the cave commenced,
The Knight clutched a ring.
He couldn't abandon the Princess,
At the mercy of this thing.

The Beast, colossal and scaly,
Its tongue black and long.
Smoke billowed from its nostrils,
As it croaked an ancient song:

"Whoever desires the Captive,
Listen now, to me.
If you dare to try and take her,
No longer shall you be."

"For if you think that I;
The Dragon of the Song,
Will simply hand her over,
You, my boys; are wrong."

The Dragon cackled hoarsely,
Then smoke engulfed the cave,
Ahead, he saw the Princess,
The Princess he must save.

"It's fine," he muttered,
I'm brave, he thought.
But nothing could have prepared him,
for what the richer man had brought...
