I am going to let you all in on a saga that has been taking place in my life for some time now... It will take a few posts to fully explain but I want you all to know as much as possible so please bare with me :-)
In May 2010 I was having a drink at a local pub with a friend of mine. As is often deemed customary in public houses, I was minding my own and drinking my drink, quietly taking in my surroundings.
I noticed at a table not far from us that a young lady seemed to be getting harassed somewhat by another young female. This young lady appeared to be getting more and more upset by the situation that she was in. I felt I must do something.
Hoping that she would understand what I was doing (otherwise I would end up looking like a total fool) I looked across and shouted at her,
"oh my god! Jess is that you?"
She looked at me like I was crazy... This could go terribly wrong...
"I haven't seen you in AGES!! Come and sit here, let me get you a drink!" I enthusiastically gestured to the table, willing her to see what I was doing.
"Oh Lucy! Sorry I didn't recognise you! Be over in two!"
She excused herself from her uninvited guest and came across to my table. Thank the lord she had cottoned on!
Jess turned out to be a 27 year old lady named Samm who was an accountant. As we got to talking, the wine flowing nicely, we discovered that we were soon to be neighbours. With Samm moving in across the road from me in just a few days time.
It would be nice to have someone around. My flat could get very lonely and cold. I was perpetually bored and so it would be nice to have some company. She seemed like a lovely girl.
We exchanged numbers and promised to get in contact the next day. I love meeting new people. There is nothing more exciting than talking to someone new and getting to know all about them. Fitting all the pieces of a jigsaw together until you have the entire picture.
I was yet to know that Samm would not turn out to be an entire jigsaw.
A month or so went past. Samm and I became very good friends and spent a lot of time together. Her father was sick, suffering with terminal cancer and was currently in the local hospital. When Samm was not with me, she would be with her mother spending hours beside her fathers bedside.
One night, when Samm and I were casually putting the world to rights over pizza, Samm asked me if I would like to move in with her.
She had a beautiful house just across the road. It had the potential to be something magnificent. The rent would work out cheaper and I would have company. Something which I longed for. My little flat was exceptionally lonely at times. And being a place that was rented, I was surrounded by memorabilia and the personal effects of my landlady. Giving me no space to put my mark on things.
I accepted. Said that I would love to! We arranged he moving date for the following weekend.
I moved in with Samm and everything seemed hunky dory. I was happy and she was happy and as far as I was aware, so was the landlord... How wrong was I...
