For the past few days, Paul and I have kept at it. Play fighting, wrestling, grabbing.
Sally likes to keep a good distance away, smirking at me.
A couple of days ago, he and I were chatting on the phone, and we went on about how this one guy who keeps bothering him probably thinks I'm weird. I told him I know he thinks I'm weird, because I try to be as weird as possible around him. To which Paul chuckled, and said,
"One day he's just gonna come up to me and be like...dude...what is your girlfriend doing?"
My mouth opened with surprise and delight at how easily the word "girlfriend" rolled off of his tongue. Instead of making any reference to it, I just laughed.
Yesterday, we were on the phone laughing so hard, that neither of us could say anything, and could only listen to each other try to catch our breath.
And that night, we texted for a little while. He started sending pictures. Incredibly old pictures from freshman year, before I had terminated our friendship because Lizzie had told me to.
"These photos are when we just started being friends," he said.
I found a photo on my phone of last year, sophomore year, when we went out to dinner with all of our friends at a fancy restaurant.
"Look at this," I said. "We look like babies."
My heart filled with warmth, remembering that day.
"We've come a long way," I thought, staring at the photos where I looked so different. "A very, very long way."

Writing is my life. Forever. I want to be an author when I grow up. I write all the time. When I'm happy, sad, angry...it's an escape. Oh, and I love green hearts. I absolutely love them.
