Why I hear you ask do people do stupid things? Because we are people. We are not almighty and all knowing. We are not omnipresent and everlasting. We grab at what we can in the split second that is our lifetime an sometimes we grab too fast, or too hard, or too rashly or with our eyes closed.
It is our fallibility that creates stupidity. War, famine, genocide, torture, indentured labour, fear.
The intelligent person knows that they know nothing at all, save for that in a split second our life will be over, so it makes sense to live it. Not ride it out.
