Memories

We went to the seaside
My sister, our spouses and I,
We went to see the past to remember times gone by!

I had an image in my head
Of just how it should be,
Oh how disappointed
Such a shock to me?

My sister is much younger
No memory of this shore,
The dirty beach and broken houses
She hadn't seen before!

The memories that I 'd had
Inside my head for years
Will never be quite the same
Dampened by sad tears?

We left this place in the car
Drove a mile up the coast
Hoping that I could find
Somewhere a happy ghost?

We parked the car and we walked
Along the promenade
Rolled up our trouser legs
And in the sea we played

We hand some fish & chips
And we Played the arcade
It's not about how it looks
This is how memories are made!

I'm glad we had this break
our weekend by the sea
Remembering some of the past
And how good life can be!
