Keeping secrets, making promises
Until the very very end
Always cheerful and peppy
What qualifies one to be your friend?
Sure those are the good traits
But what makes a friend great and true?
Not just thinking about it,
But actually being there for you
Physically being in the same room
At the same moment in time
Holding your head up to smile
Or holding your body when you cry
That's a great friend
Who actually cares and responds
To whatever you need in them
To push for that stronger bond
I thought I had one
No, I thought I had a few
Of these ideal friendships
But that wasn't true
How can two people be friends
When one dismisses the other
For far too long of a time span
When that one finds another
So now there's the original two,
Awkward and on unfriendly terms
One with a nonchalant face
And the other with a hatred that burns
"I'll make it up to you,"
The rotten one reassures
"I don't care anymore,"
The lonely one murmurs
