It's wonderful when you are old enough to watch your son with his own children. To see the love he has for them and the wisdom he teaches them. The pride you feel when you see his achievements is far more satisfying than anything you managed to achieve yourself. When I gave birth to him I hoped for him to be healthy and happy, I didn't think of, kind and clever, but he is!
Now I have my fingers crossed for my grandchildren.

How very profound. I've seen the way my father watches me with my son and the expressions of his face tell a similar tale. I had a turbulent time during my teens and twenties but he knows now that I have chosen a family life and at long last my father has something to be proud of.
@gregglesky I am glad things worked out well for you too. Life isn't supposed to be easy but there is so much pain in seeing your child suffer and such joy in seeing them happy. That doesn't change, however old the child.

@crowncottage my daughter passed her theory driving test yesterday... I didn't give birth to her but I helped her learn to drive...
@Barknbite well done her (and you) good luck for the practical. We only had one test in our day, I hated it and had to try 3 times. I still don't enjoy it but it's a necessary evil where we live. πΌ
