Dear You,
He writes to you about ancient history. Part of him still honestly believes that what transpired was best for everyone. One part still rankles. He let you and others believe that you were a yes and he was a no.
Knowing that the date of his departure was final before his arrival he lacked the courage to dare. He could see entwining souls torn asunder and saw only future pain.
The fact that sparks caught at all proves you were crack to him. A controlled man, he is so terribly sorry he was saying yes whilst saying no.
He understands that it was easiest to believe his was a no with a callous heart, especially when he went on to play the part. He wants you to know that he yearned for you and was never a no.
Anyway, you found another then and another since. He is thankful you kept him on as a friend. He judges the men around you most harshly and believes you deserve only the best. Even if he himself is as bad as the rest.
He needs you to know that he was never a no.
