I look at you and it hurts
To know that you want more
I see you as a friend
And I don't want this to end

It must be hard for you
Keeping your feelings in check
It must hurt even more
That you know I don't feel the same way

You say that you'll wait. That my feelings will change. That our love will grow..

It's not my fault, but I feel like I need to say sorry
I don't want to be selfish
Or mislead you in any way
I know it hurts to only have part of me
But the alternative of me not being in your life must be harder
Which is why you compromise
