After I get my shower I feel much better. I put on a new outfit. It's a cute sleeveless, short, purple dress. I put on a few silver bracelets and and some black high heels. I'm ready to party! I walk over to the door and grab a black sweater from the closet. I go outside and walk over to Joshes house. I knock on his door and after a few minutes it swings open.
"Listen, I don't want anymore people here so just go aw-, oh, it's you Emma. Sorry I thought it was someone that was uninvited but still coming."
"Oh. Well I'm not one of those people. Haha."
He laughs along. He has a big grin across his face.
"Did I miss something while I was gone?"
"What do you mean?"
"You are smiling like you just won the lottery!"
I giggle.
Cassie walks up to the door.
"What's taking so long. I'm waiting for you."
"Oh. I was about to tell Emma about just getting the greatest girlfriend in the world!" He exclaims as he puts his arm around her.
She throws a smile at me. You can tell by her facial expression that she is telling me he's all hers and not mine. I smile at him as happily as I can. It's really hard to smile when all you want to do is cry.
"I-I ju-ust came to say th-at I am staying ho-me. I'm kinda tired."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Okay well sleep well. Bye."
Cassie shuts the door leaving me on the doorstep. I turn around and run home. My heel gets stuck and I fall flat on my face in the grass. I just sit there not even bothering to get up. Suddenly it starts to rain. Oh great. How can this get any worse? I cry my eyes out. You win Cassie. You have everything that you want. I get up and I'm covered in mud, my hair is messed up, I'm drenched, and my right heel is broken. I slowly walk over to the door and go inside. Justin is still in the kitchen and he stares at me.
"Are you okay?"
"No. No I am not."
I try to hold my tears back, but they come pouring out. I cry and cry.
He gets up and walks over to me. He pulls my strand of hair back and smiles.
"It's okay."
He hugs me and I hug him back. He doesn't care that he is getting covered in mud, he just keeps hugging.
"How about we go to the mall tomorrow? Will that make you feel better?"
"Yeah. Thank you."
"Okay. Well you go take a shower."
I go upstairs and turn into my room. I go over to my drawer and grab a change of clothes. I stare into the mirror and think.
Why do I even care that Josh is dating Cassie? We can still be friends. I guess I have to admit it to myself, I might actually have a crush on Josh.
