It's that time of year again
Four years have gone by quickly
The memories are ever laying but they are slowly fading
They aren't as vivid as before
When I think back I miss you more
Your smile
Your laugh
Your big warm heart
I can't forget the lumps of butter on your bread
All gulped down with a greasy fry
Oh those were the times,
Then the walks we had on ye mourragh collecting unusual stones and shells
Watching the waves splash and disappear
Those were some happy memories
The days you helped me with my homework
Racing to see who has finished the maths problem faster
Then the Irish you were clearly the one who knew it all
My parents had no clue but you always did
It was like half jiberish I me but it always was true!
The nights I slept in your house
Listening to johnny cash and dancing a few steps
Then trying to imitate you in the ways you read the newspaper
Watching you do the crosswords and me guessing
Then to calm me down you showed me how to play sudoku
After our night time fun
You would bring me to her with my sleepy head
Tell me stories of when you were young
From the days if fishing for trout
To the times you became a fox with slippers
They were so simple but now so precious to me!
The days the nights the hours I never stop thinking of you.
On this special day , I still can't believe I haven't heard u talk in four years.
Seeing your yellow Simpson body I knew I would not forget , the stillness and cold throughout your corpse is the goodbye I thought would have never had happened.
Times change people go
Who's to know?
All I know is that the memories of burning your finger with the lighter by puffing it out
And the times I made u walk into ditches to fetch the ball I had just launched on its way.
They said I could never be without you. We had a strong bond
But look at me now...
I'm happy and growing and it's all thanks to you.
The memories will never be truly gone
But just fade each day
It's sad to say
But Grandad I miss you
And you will for ever stay
In my heart and mind
Until I see you another day!
