Part 2
Two days since Graham had buried Thorn in the garden and things were not getting any easier. Hazel had shown absolutely no emotion when the dirt was shoveled on to the lifeless Thorn in the cold hard frosty ground on a winters morning in early December. True to form Hazel had said that BB was responsible for what had happened. Sue and Graham were beside themselves with worry about their daughter. "She needs help love, something ain't right with her head. I mean Jesus fucking Christ she's only seven and she killed our fucking dog, I just don't know what the fuck to do, I think she needs help, professional help" Graham said as he took his second bottle of red from the fridge and poured another large glug of wine into his empty glass. Recent events had hit Sue hard, she had become almost overnight depressed and would sit and stare at her daughter showing no emotion whatsoever.
Graham could often hear Hazel whispering at night after he had put her to bed. This had turned into (what he could make out through the wall) whole conversations with the occasional giggle coming from his daughter. When he would walk into her room unannounced to catch her talking she would always be asleep or at least pretending to be. It was as if she was always one step ahead of him. Sue was getting more and more depressed each day and was prescribed some powerful anti depressants that although she said they were helping Graham could see that she was getting worse. She had got into the habit of not washing or looking after herself properly and was looking extremely depressed. Graham was at his wits end, "A break from this house is what we need" he thought to himself "Yeah a nice little break somewhere far away might make things better".
If only he knew.
