Two Boxes

Watching two boxes

Fall down into the big fire pit I
Dug with my own two hands this
Morning. Took a lot of effort, me
Sweating and puffing like an angry
Elephant chasing a cheeky mouse,
I got two fire lighters and some old
Newspaper from the house; stuffed
It blindly in the pit, but before
Lighting it, something caught my eye
In the headlines of the daily I;
TWO BOXES it read, and, intrigued
I started to read;

'TWO BOXES
Fell down into the big fire pit he
Dug with his own hands this
Morning. They were filled with
1 million pounds in stolen notes
From the Great RBS Bank Robbery.'

Now, it's snowing, it's cold, and wet
And I bet these two boxes that have
Fallen into the pit are those
Two boxes with the stolen money in it?
Yeah, right! I don't even bother looking
Do I, I just light her up and watch her burn
Those sort of things don't happen to
US, do they?
Do they?
DO THEY?

Two boxes burn,
Smoke chokes the air like money
Chokes the life out of society
And I just watch
Two boxes burn.
With my eyes closed,
And my fingernails dug into
My palms are sweating.
