Is there a blue sky?
Why mummy why
Can I not fly?
It's wonderful to hear
Questioning young minds.
Pieces of knowledge
Precious finds.
Never stopping,
Always asking.
In answers found,
Delight they're basking.
Why mummy why?
It never stops.
Eyes light up
Out a question pops.
Breakfast, lunch
Dinner, tea.
There simply is no rest for me!
The questions change
As they get older.
In thinking thoughts
They become much bolder.
No longer am I the only source
My way not always the only course.
Hoping I have taught them to think,
So in this world they will not sink.
They find answers on their own,
Not always from hearth and home.
But sometimes still when there is doubt,
Why mum why?! I hear them shout.
My heart swells, privileged I feel,
That they still ask about things so real.
Of my opinion they still care,
So for that I will always be there.
