That old cliche 'I hate goodbye's.'
What should be said instead?
Farewell?
Adieu?
So long?
Adios?
My opportunity snatched away.
Your own, I suspect, selfish and oh so shallow reasons.
That's why there needs to be a goodbye.
So what should I say?
Farewell?
Adieu?
So long?
Adios?
It all means the same.
Perhaps the words of The Bard offer some comfort.
Parting after all is such sweet sorrow.
Will that sweet bitterness ever fade?
Knowing you'd miss me or regret, that's just food for my ego.
I know you won't and I'd never be given a fleeting thought.
Despite your protestations of kindness of love and civility.
It's business to you that's all.
It's manipulation and mind games.
It's all about you, your needs and desires.
Your craving for adoration.
You had it from me, you brushed it away.
My chance to say goodbye removed.
My opportunity denied.
A blessing I feel.
Final and decisive the way it needs to be.
Goodbye, farewell, adieu, so long, adios.
I hope you feel my sorrow in parting.
I hope you know what you touched and destroyed inside me.
Sayonara, you will torture me no more.
