One day that girl will find her happy ending...
Yet I was the fool that let that one get away.
I spoke lies of not being able to commit or settle down,
and I let these ol' boots walk out her door.
Yet I was a fool...
Thought I was a big shot searching for better,
But blind was I when perfection was staring me in the eye.
She was the kind you brought home to mama,
She was the one you'd give that bachelor pad up for.
Yet I was a fool...
Now seeing her tonight, dressed in love, tears at me.
The one she holds onto is the man who took my place,
Doing all the things I should have for her.
Now she can't keep her toes on floor while dancing on cloud 9,
Yet I was a fool...
That could have been me at the end of this aisle..
Instead I'm the schmuck stuck in the pew.
She is saying hi to a fairy tale while I'm making acquaintances with my dead end.
Truth is, that could have been me...but you guessed it...
I am a fool...
