A couple of weeks passed and I didn't even see Sarah around school. Ahem I mean prison. I hoped she had magically fallen off earth.
I was beginning to memorise my way through the identical corridors and hallways, and was getting used to the lessons. Lewis' injuries had healed nicely, and both he and Florence had become close friends to me. I wasn't used to having friends, let alone close ones. I couldn't decide whether I liked it or hated it. Of course I really loved it, I could moan about people and laugh about silly things with Florence, and I was always comparing favourite bands and talking about crazy things like tattoos and piercings with Lewis. But I hated the fact that one day I was going to have to leave. Move on. Abandon them. I hated myself for getting involved with Sarah, because I knew that as long as I was here she wasn't messing with anybody, but what would happen when I left? Everyone would fall back into her evil grasp.
It was a Saturday morning and I had absolutely no reason to get up. I lay curled up under my duvet thinking about everything. I was drifting back off to sleep when my phone buzzed under my pillow, making me jump up. Nobody ever texted me.
"hey Abby, what's up? Are you free today? If you are, want to come to the cinema with me, Florence and Jack? Xx" it read. It must be from Lewis. I was being invited somewhere outside of school. This was a first! I've never had a proper social life before.
I quickly typed my reply to him,
"hey, not a lot, I'm still in bed haha, you? And sure, I'd love too, what are we going to see? (: xx"
My phone buzzed just seconds after the message had sent. Wow he texted fast.
"haha, lazy :P not a lot, just chillin' aha and I have no idea, Jack asked me along with him and Florence and I said only if you could come :L xx"
Hmm, I was going to have to speak to Florence about this Jack. I have a feeling she rather likes him...
"fair enough, haha, and shh I'm not lazy ;) aha okay sure I'll come (: what time are we going? Xx"
I texted back and then rolled out of bed.
"whatever :P Jack said we're meeting outside at quarter to 4, :) xx"
Okay that gave me... 3 hours.
I had a shower and got dressed, applied my makeup and blasted my hair dry, before brushing it through and deciding to leave it all down today.
I skipped down the stairs and went in search of my dad. I found him asked for a lift to the cinema. He was completely shocked, but agreed. Good, sorted.
I arrived at the cinema a few minutes before we were all meant to be meeting, but as I approached the big Victorian entrance I saw Lewis already stood there.
He waved when he saw me, and laughed when I waved back. Was there something wrong with my wave?
"hey, just waiting on the others now!" he said.
Florence was the next to arrive. She bounded up to us, full of energy and excitement.
"hey guys! How's things?" she had a beaming smile, which apparently seemed contagious. Jack finally arrived, his floppy hair all pokey uppy, one of his shoelaces undone and his jacket was a scruffy mess.
Florence giggled at the state of him. I met eyes with Lewis and we exchanged a look of amusement. Jack turned a slight shade of red.
"shall we go in?" he asked awkwardly. We all nodded and followed him through the doors.
Oh shit, I hadn't brought any money!
"you okay? You look like someone's just slapped you with a fish..." Lewis looked at me
"I haven't brought any money with me! I totally forgot..." I sighed in annoyance with myself.
"chill, it's okay, I'll pay for you this time and you can pay me back another time" Lewis pulled out some money from his pocket.
The queue we were stood in was moving so slowly. I noticed that the girl stood in front of me had ridiculously high heels on, considering she was at the local cinema. I nudged Florence and gestured towards them, and I knew from the face she pulled that she thought the exact same thing. We burst into a fit of giggles, when the owner of the heels turned around.
Oh god.
"well well. The peasants have come to the cinema, and brought a little witch along for the show too!" Sarah. I should have known it was too good for her to have just vanished.
"shouldn't you be in your own private cinema, princess?" I snapped. Lewis and Jack both snorted. Florence tried to hold in a laugh but I could see she was struggling.
"humph, whatever, you are all such immature little children." Sarah spat.
"speak for yourself." I couldn't be bothered to argue with her today, and I didn't want to spoil meeting up with everyone.
"hmm, I will deal with you on monday, where my public image won't be affected."
Sarah spun on her heel and stalked off. Good. One less person in the queue. But what did she mean deal with me...?
