Oh my god. I was paralysed! I couldn't move anything! There were sharp pains from my wrists and up my arms. The same searing pain was going up my legs from my ankles. Was I dead? There was something bundled in my mouth. I opened my heavy eyes.
My memory flooded back. I was being held hostage. My eyes darted around, taking in as much as I can. It was a dingy place, filthy, there was very little light and the floor was covered in muck. There were large barrels, crates, boxes and pallets stacked up the dirt stained walls. Pillars came up from the floor and rose to the ceiling, these were also smeared with some sort of filthy grime.
I assumed my hands were tied behind a pillar, as I had a back ache and my chest hurt to breathe, a sign, normally, that there was a strain coming from somewhere. I had no idea how long I had been here, but my body felt like it has been slumped over for a very long period of time.
I tried to speak but only a small gurgly noise escaped from my throat. My mouth felt as dry as sand paper, and I quickly realised I was gagged with a piece of cloth. I was severely dehydrated.
I heard a quiet moaning sound coming from elsewhere in the room.
Florence? Not poor innocent florence! Maybe it was Lewis? God he had just barely recovered from his beating! Jack? Well I barely knew the boy but he certainly didn't deserve to get caught up in something like this. I was worried for all of their lives.
The moan sounded again.
I tried to form some sort of noise to show I was there, they were not alone. I managed to make a sound, but it wasn't much.
A shuffling noise in return. My eyes scanned the room searching for a sign of movement.
Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a single loose blonde curl poking from the side of one of the pillars near to me. Florence. I let out an exasperated gasp involuntarily, my shock and horror apparent.
I was fumbling with my hands, trying to discover what my wrists were tied by. If I could work it out I may have a chance of freeing myself. No such luck.
A laugh echoed throughout the room. One of those laughs where someone doesn't open their mouth they just laugh in their throats. It sent a shiver down my spine.
Slow footsteps approached me. Sarah emerged from behind the pillar I was tethered too. She smiled a cruel, twisted smile and touched my cheek. I flinched away from her hand best I could.
She placed a bottle of water on the floor and brought both hands up. She felt behind my head and untied the gag.
I tried to speak but all that came out was air.
"here. Drink. " Sarah held the bottle infront of my lips. What if it was poisoned? Oh who cares I am so desperate for a drink it is worth the risk. I parted them willingly and she tipped the bottle up slightly. The soft water trickled into my mouth. It was the best feeling in the world at this moment. Sarah tilted the bottle a big higher and I gulped the water down like there was no tomorrow. The water ran out way too fast. I was still desperately thirsty when the last drop was gone.
"you'll never get away with this" I managed to croak out.
"why on earth not?"
"our parents will call the police. They will know something's up." my throat felt so swollen it was nearly impossible to get words out.
"oh, no they won't be worrying just yet, we sorted all that our using your phones. See, your parents think you're staying at Florence's house, her parents think she's staying at yours, Lewis' parents think he's with Jack all night and Jack's parents think he's staying at Lewis'" she looked so proud of herself.
"give the others a drink, else they'll die." I wanted to spit on her.
"oh you still worry about others more than yourself! Don't be silly missy, I wouldn't let them die, I'm not that silly."
I was preparing myself to shout at her when an ear piercing scream rang out from where I saw Florence's curl.
