Ask me what I'm thinking,
Ask me who I am.
Ask me if I've lost my mind,
Of sanity, I'm not a fan.
I can assure you, you don't know me,
So please don't assume a thing.
No, ask me of my dreams,
Or what I hope my future brings.
Ask me for my name,
Or for my age or favorite song.
But don't judge me on my thoughts
Or tell me you think I'm wrong.
Can we agree to disagree,
And leave our war at peace?
If not, then ask me why
That I'm not afraid in the least.
Or ask me something unlike myself,
Something impossible to find.
Like why people die and hurt inside,
Or always find themselves in a bind.
And if nothing has yet left you satisfied,
And you need an answer from the heart,
Ask me about my past,
And what it is that sets me apart.
It's true I don't know the answers
To the questions you ask me today.
But I know one day I'll find them,
So you should ask me anyway.
