Yes, I am a teenager,
But I'm not just what you think.
Don't stereotype what you don't know,
I'm not some missing link.
I don't drink or smoke or party too much,
It's fine if you don't believe me.
I'm a mystery to everyone,
So learn to love what you can't see.
I don't sneak out late at night,
Though I may lie once in a while.
I know I have good judgement,
So don't treat me like a child.
I may not be an adult,
But I have important things to say.
Take your own advice and listen
To the sound of my dismay.
I may mess up from time to time,
I'm not the smartest in the world.
But that doesn't make me a bad kid,
I'm just a curious girl.
Yes, I am a teenager,
But that doesn't mean a thing.
So ask me how I am today,
And we'll see what my future brings.
