You've not got the newest iPad?
Oh goodness! You poor dear.
But what about those people,
Who live every day in fear?
Those who don't have a crumb,
Or a penny to their name.
Those who can't read,
And have no home to claim.
Or those who fight in wars?
Seeing horrors every day.
Risking their lives for us.
Their families so far away.
Those who are put down,
For the colour of their skin.
It's wrong, it's cruel, it's horrible.
At heart, we're all akin.
Here we sit with our fancy phones,
Oblivious to the world.
Keeping up with what's 'in',
Dodging the problems life has hurled.
What has happened to humans?
We invented gadgets galore,
We wrote, we sang, we loved,
And many, many more.
But the world has gone and plummeted,
Into a pit of despair,
Only blackness and misery,
We're the only ones who'll care.
We're the ones that started it all,
Now it's time for us to mend,
To pick up the broken pieces,
It's time for this to end.
