Bronze and russet
Golden brown
Yellow and orange
Lay on the ground
Fungus and moss
Lichen and mould
Bark that has fallen
From trees ancient and bold
Pretty pink wellygogs
Hot chocolate, marshmallows
Scarves and wooly hats
Mittens, and pac-a-macs
Scrabbling and digging
Scratching to secure
The bounty of the season
For days they have nought
Rustling leaves in earthy wind
Mud that sticks and slides
Holes in tall and naked trees
Where fattened squirrels hide
Golden sunrises
Red rose sunsets
Skies filled with diamonds
inspire, on your mark, get set!
Bounty of berries
We share with the birds
Jams and fruit pies
More comfort than words
Autumn our Autumn
Beloved season of grace
Where would we be
Without autumn to face
