Our tongue a mortals weapon
Of it’s worth we can be blind
It’s lashing out undisciplined
To hurt and be unkind
If not in vocal spasm
Our words in ink, blood spill
The readiness of spitefulness
Our fragile hearts to kill
But with a little forethought
With a little bit of Grace
The words we have inside us
Will be our crutch for life to face
The opening of our ears
The softening of our hearts
If we are slow to speak of ill
A wisdom deep inside imparts
Judge not the strangers brother
Or the sister you don’t know
Open up your arms, embrace
Your faith to lead you so
For the meekest in this world
Will one day be the strong,
And the lesson will be learned by all
Through the taming of the tongue

I am a father of two wonderful girls and a christian, long time sufferer of depression my writing has become my therapy. Some of my writing is faith based, some of it portrays the darkness of depression. I make no apologies for that but pray by using my honesty it might help others experiencing similar turmoil in their lives. May God forever bless you and keep you! Kik me @ merlin1038
