The Lost Pebble

Many years ago
A little girl walked
Sand squishing between her toes

In the corner
Of her baby blues
A pebble so fine caught her eye

It was smooth
Bright flecks of gold
Glistened in her soft hands

The little pebble
Became a friend to her
She took it everywhere she went

One day whilst playing
The pebble she did drop
Unknowingly so, she left the pebble behind

When she realised
That the pebble was gone
Inconsolable the girl was to be

Many years passed
The little girl became a woman
Holding her child's little soft hand

Together they walk
Pairs of feet gently stroll on by
Sand still squishing among their toes

The child then sees
Something so very lovely
She bends down to stare in wonder

Picking it up proudly
She goes to show her mother
Holding out her tiny opened hand

There in her palm
Was the beautiful pebble
Still round with lovely flecks of gold!

The lost pebble
Was lost no more
Being cherished and kept very safe for all to see!

Writing has been my friend since a teenager...I laugh, cry, think, pretend, smile as I do it. I feel that I communicate better through my writing as in person I can appear a tad scatty.
