At this time I had already said goodbye to Alek, walked down to our little cottage, put the jar of blueberries on the kitchen table and was making my way upstairs. I quietly slipped back into my bed, and looked at Rosie. She was always so tranquil when she slept- you could just tell she was dreaming. And soon enough I fell asleep too.
But a few minutes later I woke up at the sound of my mum's knocking on our door.
"Get up you two! Breakfast is at the table!" Mum called out and opened the door wider.
I swooshed the curtains aside and kneeled down to Rosie's mattress. She was still half asleep as I stroke her beautiful, wavy, blonde hair aside.
"Wake up sleepy head!" I whispered in Rosie's ear.
The five year old turned to face me and touched my cheek with her wincy hand, I put my hand over hers and kissed it.
"Mummy and Daddy are downstairs, come on!" I said, before leaving our room.
As soon as I came down I saw my mum opening the jar of blueberries.
"Natasha, did you bring this?" Mum asked with curious eyebrows- the ones I raised at Alek this morning.
"Yes mum, thought it would be something nice for breakfast" I replied cheerfully.
My Mum smiled, and began rinsing them. But It wasn't long before Rosie ran down the stairs and widened her eyes in delight. She loved blueberries.
"Here you go girls, eat it all up! Remember blueberries are good for your eyesight" Mum said, putting two plates on the table. Rosie was cramming in as much blueberries as she could fit into her tiny mouth. Her cheeks were looking like a chipmunk's and she giggled. Since I didn't have much of an appetite, I offered Rosie nearly half of mine. And then I decided it was time for my final apology:
"Mum... I'm really sorry about yesterday again. I-
But she cut me off.
"Oh don't speak about it. We forgive you, just don't do it again okay?"
"Yes Mother" I replied obediently.
Once we finished our breakfast, I got dressed for school. It was still quite chilly in the morning, and so I wore my winter tights under my wooly dress.
The arrow struck seven in the morning when I left for school. I walked in a very rushed manor, because If I didn't then I would be late. Again. But I couldn't resist the morning song of the birds; the crisp, clear beauty of their voices, the magnificent melody of truly happiness. I ran down to the little stream and listened; The birds sang their delicate, flowing song and the sun crammed its way into all this wonder and reflected it's rays on the stream, making it sparkle like it consisted of atom sized floating diamonds. I sighed. I knew it was already time for me to leave. But I didn't want to. But I had too...
The next moments of my life consisted of running. I ran. All the way down the bridge, through the village, turned left, then right and there I was- school. Just about making it, I arrive.
