Monday I asked for your hand,
As we danced before our wedding band,
Tuesday we lived our dreams and wishes,
You kissed me, called me your new 'Mrs',
Wednesday I held you when you cried,
And never once did I ask you why,
Thursday we let our children run free,
So they can roam, climb and fall from trees,
Friday we sit and breathe, just us again,
The noise is gone, a silent 'amen',
Saturday we still laugh and don't notice that we age,
Sunday you kiss me as I drift from my last page.
But that is next week,
Yesterday you shyly kissed my cheek,
Took my number, asked to dinner at last,
Tonight we'll passionately steam up the glass.
