We had already helped many wounded people, when we came across a market. It was surrounded by a tall stone wall and had tall solid wood gates, inside was a picture of serenity, people were milling about looking at the market stalls wares. It was a stark contrast to what we had previously seen.
'I don't like the look of this, it's too calm' said Adam
'it's fine, not every where we go has to have been raised to the ground' snapped Lucy. I had never heard Lucy use that tone before.
We continued to walk through the gates and were about half way into the market when suddenly people began pushing the gates closed.
'no' we all shouted and started running towards the gates, but a few with only a few meters to go, the stitches in my leg ripped. I screamed and collapsed to the floor clutching my leg, Adam and Lucy began running back to help me.
'No' i screamed, 'leave me'
But it was too late, they were by my side hoisting me up, when we heard the gates thud closed. Only Rebecca and Luke had made it out. James was pounding frantically at the door. Then out of nowhere metal rods shot out of the fruit stalls and we heard the hissing of gas being released, it was then that I remembered my forgotten mask.
