Time stood still when you left us,
though mornings turned to night.
Day broke through the darkness,
but some would remain inside us,
we're all to human, our hubris marks us.
You showed me love, made me smile.
How vain to think you would stay a while.
You're calling to eternity shocked us.
I still reel, that morning happiness took flight,
and left this shell, cold and speechless.
Still, the words were few between us.
We carry on, somehow you drive us.
You show us how to walk this lonely mile,
how vain to think that you would stay a while.
This summers winter nearly froze us.
With Greying fingers we tried to set our hearts alight.
All despair, life it seemed was hopeless,
till we saw you, still among us.
Still you bond us, warm and keep us safe and sound.
The stars, they called you back, still as a child
How vain to think that you would stay a while
