A brief walk of necessity led me to the cool evening air that wrapped me in fresh clothing and pulled my eyes skyward. There, thickening clouds of black and grey, moist and charged with natures fury spoke to me in tongues of fire, stirring within me a need to walk and to keep walking.
For an hour I made my way, hypnotised by the brooding sky; how magnificent it was and how little our lives must seem as we sleep our way through each day... oh rain, how I wished you would awaken me! I wanted the sky to open itself for me; to feel its cleansing rain soak my skin and wash away the tears of a mundane life; a life forgotten; a life un-lived.
But the rain didn't come; and once again, I found myself lost, wandering alone through a dream of what might have been.
