My Mum

My mum I know she in not perfect
In the past she's forgot my birthday
She's made mistakes along the way
But still she knows how to brighten my day

After a long week and friends that are busy
I visit my mum who sadly I've been missing
It's been too long we both meant to call
She's happy so see me, hugs and all

Then she proves that she's been thinking of me
Out comes the Easter eggs she saved as my treat
We chat and catch up in the kitchen
This is a place that I've been missing

She bought me a slow cooker this Christmas
I loved it but don't know how to use it - of course, my mum noticed this
So, from Book Club man she bought me a recipe book
From this she told me I can learn how to slow cook

A gift with no meaning except that she loves me
A gift like this is more precious than money
What a lovely surprise, I really was touched
I'll have to give it a go and invite her over for lunch

Then as I was thinking of leaving
She noticed a hole in my cardigan...
Taking it off me and with a needle and thread
She fixed my favourite cardigan before I went

I left her house full of smiles
And forgot her faults for a while
I love my mum and she loves me
That's all that matters, we are happy
