Hey dearies! I haven't been around too much as I've spent the last two days working on art exams, it's been fun but I have also had withdrawal from my absence on here. Probably quite unhealthy since I have plenty more exams coming up but I've got a small problem I could use a little Opuss community help with...
A few days ago, while sketching Einstein for said exam, a discussion arose about heroes.
Personally, as a total cynic of most of modern society, my view point is against idolising any individual. Sad I know but it got me questioning are there any real worthwhile role models out there for young people.
A friend of mine mentioned all kinds of branded 'wholesome' stars, while another, (similar to myself) stated he tries to be more like Marvel superheroes than himself mostly, as a joke.
But among the litany of famous people and local legends mentioned along with parents, family and God etc, I came to the conclusion that it's wrong to model ourselves on anyone. If we admire another person how close are we to infatuation or jealousy?
Then one wise old soul in our group share with us some procured knowledge...
Most of us only aspire to be like our role models because the world teaches us all to think ourselves imperfect and that we therefore will be happier/more fulfilled if we emulate somebody else...
Such deep discussions we have at lunch :)
