A Broken Friendship Rebuilt

It all ended that on that stormy night
We were watching films that gave a fright
You pulled me in and held on with all your might
I didn't see your end goal, that you had in sight.

We laughed and joked
Even more so when on your rice you almost choked
You are such an amazing bloke
But then we realised the friendship rule had broke

At the time I was lost, confused to say the least
Battered and bruised by that beast
Almost on the point of being deceased
My heart and thoughts all crumpled and creased

You took me by surprise
We kissed and you held me until the following sun rise
Nothing else happened despite the obvious desires
As we knew it would be my demise

You begged and pleaded to me to flee
To get away from the monster that he be
But it wasn't as clear as that you see
I was terrified of what he'd do to me

Then that one horrible night
I was knocked out like a light
The phone call from the hospital gave you such a fright
You were upset you said you should have never let me out of your sight.

Since then you have declared undying love for me
But we tried that and it wasn't meant to be
So now very close friends you see
Maybe that's just how life is meant to be.
