As I was giving my son a hug and kiss before he left for college this morning, it made me ponder on a mothers role.
This is not meant as an attack on fathers! They do a wonderful job, but in a very different way. We need both ways!
If the world had no mothers how sad it would be
No cuddles or kisses for sons you would see
T'would be quite different in a house of just men
No soft gentle nurturing
No making of dens
Stories by firesides, warm, soft and glowing
Whilst the wind outside is whistling and blowing
A cuddle, a blanket, hot water bottle too
Keeps the chill of the world, away from you too
Meals for the tummy
A cake oh so yummy
These things are important and ever so scrummy
A mum is there for all of her tribe
A strong loving presence, fearless with pride
So bless all you mothers
For all that you do
The washing, the ironing
And cleaning the loo
Cooking the dinner, and walking the dog
Wether it's raining or misty with fog
All manner of things, too many to mention
Make mums very special and get our attention
