Sad Man

You said you'd love me one more time
I had whiskey and you had cheap wine
You said I was a sad man but I'll be just fine
I exposed my soul to you and you was shocked to know that I am kind

I guess I am a sad man
Yes I am a sad man
I seek answers I don't fully understand
Too many questions just weigh me down

Would I fail the Milgram experiment?
Tell a Dr I won't take part in a strangers punishment
Why doesn't he flick the switches and lose his own moral argument?
To him I'm just another statistic for our shocking government

I guess I am a sad man
Yes I am a sad man
I seek answers I don't fully understand
Too many questions just weigh me down

A policeman Taser's a 61yr old blind man in the street
His report says "he was waving a samurai sword at me"
Policeman was shocked to see it was just his white cane, down by his feet
He's still on duty while being investigated by the IPCC

I guess I am a sad man
Yes I am a sad man
I seek answers I don't fully understand
Too many questions just weigh me down

The Bromley Briefings reveal shocking stats on UK prisons:
1 in 10 inmates are ex-military men or women.
So we have more ex-military locked up than serving in Afghanistan.
Each year over £100m worth of drugs are traded in UK prisons
9 out of 10 young adult prisoners used drugs prior to imprisonment

I guess I am a sad man
Yes I am a sad man
I seek answers I don't fully understand
Too many questions just weigh me down

Every 40 seconds 1 person commits suicide. Shocked?
Every 2 minutes someone is sexually assaulted. Shocked?

I give you Prof Stanley Milgram.....
"It may be that we are puppets-puppets controlled by the strings of society. But at least we are puppets with perception, with awareness. And perhaps our awareness is the first step to our liberation."

So yes, I guess I am a sad man
Yes indeed I am a sad man
I seek answers I don't fully understand
Too many questions just weigh me down

@sjw yeah he was a prof at Yale uni in USA and devised a social experiment in 1961 to see if people would inflict pain on others whilst being told to continue by a fake dr in uniform. He had a fake electric shock machine and actors involved where a test subject was told to shock someone in another room via machine if they got answers wrong, which they did on purpose. The machine had fake voltage from 15v upto 450v and could here the victims screams for mercy and to end it. The subject was paid and told at the beginning they could leave at anytime. At 150v the victim begged for it to stop but the fake dr tells me to continue, most did cos they felt uncomfortable saying no to authority figure. Stanley Miglan wanted to see if random ppl from all walks of life and ages would be capable or have it in them to possibly do what the nazis did in ww2 in the death camps (some 15-20years earlier), he concluded that most of us would. It's an amazing piece of film. YouTube/google it or watch "curiosity" series on sky documentaries as they re-created a similar thing with very similar results

@RichWithey he done a few psychology/social experiments but famous for this one, I think

The policeman tasering a blind man is a true story too as are all the other facts 👍

I will its quite disturbing to think we could do something like that 😱 I'm familiar with the prison facts and just watched that story on the news about the blind man..maybe our police need better eye tests they're are always mistaking things for weapons (yeah rite!) I will check out that series sounds interesting 😘

@sjw it's very worrying but also quite fascinating watching the subjects handle the situation and their reasons behind why they continued to give a stranger a 160volt shock. The curiosity series has episodes on "life before birth" which is really cool as they explain and show what a single sperm cell goes through to get to the egg. Another one was about the effects of drugs. I do not think its the police eyesight but more training, I mean, how can you mistake a blind man with a white stick for a nutter with a sword, 50,000 volts this guy received and he had 2 hearts attacks recently, surely the police would get close enough to see he's blind if they close enough to taser? Common sense surely?

@smellyfingers defo babe sometimes I think they are just trigger happy I'm sure some of them get carried away with the sense of power that they're given I have a friend who was beaten up quite badly in police custody a few years ago so I know some of them definitely have that mentality 😏
