Melissa feeling the anxiety building, sat on the park bench nervously smoking a cigarette. She was to meet Dr. Henschel, the man who was going to subdue her pain. The Doctor who would finally put an end to her suffering. Melissa was early.
Melissa Barnesworth woke properly at five am and began her normal routine of bathing and fixing breakfast. Today though she wouldn't have to worry about her cat. She had given 'Stretch' to her friend Catherine yesterday, but it felt like a lifetime ago. So many preparations to think of on your last day. So many things to clean up, but so little goodbyes. " Today I turn 43 years old," Melissa yelled at the cupboard. Then silence fell upon the little one bedroom apartment. A silence Melissa knew all to well. Empty spaces had become her only friend. The fear of being alone had made Melissa very much alone........
