I shake my foot away from the loose grasp of the net and run, run for my life and more. I don't stop until im downtown, lost in the croud they will never find me.
Now that Ive been spotted they are going to search the whole state untill they find me, so i try to keep my head down low.
The TV's light up on the city buildings and click to channel 258 news. To my astonishment there was me! A picture of me on the big screen for thousands of people to see. Although this was not publicity, this was a hunt, a hunt for me. Stretched out across the screen said, "Jalanee if seen please call 555-258-NEWS Reward $10,000,000.
I don't read the rest. I just stand there unable to move, unable to run, and barely able to breath. Shock runs through my body like a tazer. There is no way, no way in the world anybody would want me for that much money.
"THERE SHE IS!" somebody shouts from in front of me.
Before I could turn and run a cold hand grabs my shoulder and pushes me out of the way. I turn around to see a black boy staring at me. Urging me to go on with his cold black eyes. I stand there for a moment and run, leaving behind nothing, but the boy who saved me. He struggles there being tackled to the ground and trampled by the white city folk. As I run, run away from yet another situation I cry and wipe away the cold tears from my cheeks.
After running miles into the woods I set up camp. It's nothing much, but some dry grass and a couple of sticks to teepee over my head, but it's better then laying on the cold leaves surrounded by never ending darkness. My eyes slowly shut to a close. The boy that saved me lingers amoung my thoughts. His despret face pierces my heart. I fall asleep to the silence of the forest. I think about what the next day will bring me, maybe I will see my brother again, and maybe he will save me again after all he is in town.
