Chapter 5: Ragz's Past Tense
"You know Jasmine I once had a family too but now they live within the clouds beyond the gates of heaven and I will tell you how it occurred.
Pandora had a war against the Dark Demon that wore black metal armour from head to foot with blood shot eyes staring down at the creatures who plead in anger. A large blade called the Excalibur was resting within his right hand while he was riding on a dark fierce blood thirsting dragon.
My family put me behind a pile of boulders telling me to keep down and don't move. My family gave me a kiss on the fore head and went off with their daggers drawn ready for combat, within one minute they vanished around the corner. I only could stay about thirty minutes then went sneaking out to find them.
There on the battle field was a huge war smashing and clashing it out against each other. I saw my mother and father charging into battle against the evil goblins, the mother wore a bright red dress with a pouch on the side and the father just wore brown leather pants to show his muscular strength. They were great fighters skidding under the enemies' legs to get behind to stab them or slit their throat. The impact was getting too intense so my father gave a signal by blowing an ox's horn as a trumpet.
All of a sudden millions of bows were swarming through the air, piercing the enemies in the head. The Dark Demon then gave a signal, a pack of wolves charged down growling and howling. They pounced onto the short dwarves, who tried their best swinging their axes around knocking the wolves off balance; soon the wolves became victorious by shredding the dwarves flesh away until they were left with bone.
My mother then gave another signal. I saw the mages waving their hands around ready to cast a spell. When the wolves went for another kill the mages lifted their hands to cast a fire wall. Some of the wolves got trapped in the flame and were burnt to ash. The other wolves became frightened, whimpering while moving back.
The enemy brought into the battle catapults with hot lava boulders. They were pulled by Orcs that are seven feet tall, they are thickly muscled, with stocky thick necks and their powerfully built heads seem to sit right on their shoulders. Their eyes are a deep shade of red and their face is dominated by a porcine snout and large tusks that sprout from their lower jaw. They typically have long thickly matted and coursed black hair.
The Orcs snapped the ropes that were holding the catapults down. Three hot boulders were flung into the atmosphere; one hit the cliff where the archers were standing, that made the cliff give way, crushing the archers' bones on the way down.
The other two were heading straight for the fire wall. The mages quickly froze the fire wall turning it into a sheet of ice. The boulders were falling so fast that it smashed right through the shield of ice, exploding into the ground, burning everyone in sight.
All was left was my mother and father battling it out, they were strong defeating the Orcs by themselves.
I was still watching my family when they came face to face against the Dark Demon. The Demon dismounted then patted the dragon on the head.
The dragon flew off into the distance hiding above the clouds. The Dark Demon scrapped his Excalibur across the floor, a piercing sound echoed through the air.
My mother and father put their hands over their ears trying to block the high pitched sound.
I also could hear the scraping of the sword, so I covered my ears too. The noise then stopped as the Dark Demon stood in front of my parents. The Demon told them to surrender and become his slaves but they told the Demon that they wouldn't become a slave, if they were the last ones living on Pandora.
The Demon pulled his blade to his chest and said in a stern voice. "Then die!" They knew exactly what to do.
The battle began, the three of them charged at each other.
The Demon swung his Excalibur at my mother; she quickly dodged it by gambolling over the Excalibur. She sneakily pulled out a Kurenai from the pouch that was strapped to the side of her dress.
She then threw the knife at the Demon's head but the Demon lifted its left hand and caught it between his two fingers. He slammed his Excalibur on the floor that made the ground split so many ways.
I saw my mother falling down into the cracked floor. I closed my eyes because I didn't want to see, then I heard my father's voice calling out to my mother. He jumped for her and grabbed her hand just in time before she fell into the hole.
The Dark Demon laughed.
The earthquake was just a distraction because the dragon was heading straight for them.
I tried to shout but... I was too far away. My mother and father t... They couldn't hear me.
The dragon swooped down and roasted them alive. The Dark Demon climbed onto the dragon and took flight towards the west searching for more survivors."
Jasmine looked down at Ragz. "I'm sorry about your family. I know how you feel, my father died at war when I was young."
"That's alright, I feel sorry for you too."
"One more question Ragz, who's the Dark Demon?"
"I don't know. You never get to see its face because its always hidden behind the armour. The Demon is an unbeatable creature, now that he's got the Excalibur. The princess will tell you more information about the Demon when we get there."
Jasmine kept by Rag's side just in case they bumped into any danger along the way. They have walked about fifteen miles and Jasmine's feet began to ache. Jasmine looked down at her bare feet. The skin on the sole of her feet was peeling away leaving blisters behind.
"I'm ever so sorry Ragz but I'm not used to walking this distance, could we have a rest?" Jasmine begged.
"Sorry but the flame is about to burn out, so we need to hurry because there are creatures under here that would come out as soon as it goes pitch black."
The poor girl limped by the goblin's side trying her best to catch up. She could see the tiny flame flickering side to side, using its last energy trying to show the way. Ragz stopped moving for a minute and looked around with a puzzled face listening carefully.
"Are you alright Ragz I thought you said we have to hurry?"
"Shhh don't say a word," Ragz whispered,"someone is close by but I don't know where."
