Liars Lie

"I'm sorry for lying," I mumbled into his ear. He visibly shivered from the warmth of my breath, and I took advantage of his vulnerability to nibble on his ear. I slowly kissed my way down his neck, making sure to leave a mark.
"Hey, Allie, stop," he uttered through clenched teeth.
"Do you forgive me?" I asked as I pulled away and moved my body onto his lap.
He took a moment to regain his composure, and just as he opened his mouth to speak, I kissed him.
He kissed me back frantically, not getting enough. Just as I was about to get up and take this somewhere else, somewhere more comfortable, he said,"No, I can't do this anymore."
I looked at him wide eyed, my hands on his chest and feeling his heart pound.
"Allie, I can't." He looked down at my hands and sighed. "Please, get off of me."
I didn't move, I just stared at him, appalled that this was really happening this time.
"Please, don't give me that look," he begged quietly.
I looked away from him, blinking back the tears that demanded release, and then gazed back at his handsome face. I didn't want to let him go.
"Maybe we can-" I began.
"No. We need to stop seeing each other," he stated flatly, gaining confidence in his decision. "I'm serious."
I bit my lip and slowly, reluctantly, stood up. I felt naked without him beside me.
He slid out of the booth, and stood face to face with me.
"Bye, Allie." He stuck out his hand for me to shake.
I tentatively grabbed it, focusing on the feeling of his strong, big hand holding my smaller, trembling one. I wanted to savor every last moment with him.
"Bye," I said, choking up.
We stopped shaking, but neither of us made a move to let go.
A tear escaped and made its way down my cheek. He noticed, and using the hand that was free, he made a gesture to wipe it away for me, but after reconsidering, he lowered his hand and pulled away from my grasp.
