Sticky-tape mends many things;
The broken spine of a favourite book,
The arm of sat-on spectacles,
Snagged lungs of slow-collapsing balloons,
The sticky-backed waxing of a furred jacket,
Or the interrupted skin of smooth glass, cracked.
Give me sticky tape for my detached sole!
To preserve the moisture of my exposed packet.
Sticky tape will save the muscle of my flex
And the folded box-flaps of the cardboard bottom.
But sticky tape will not mend my heart
If you should ever leave.
