I have no need for money,
Or the burden that it brings,
I have no need for friendships,
Or crazy weekend flings,
I hanker not for sunshine,
Or outings on the lake,
Stunning views and mountain paths,
You'll not find on my plate.
But give me just your keepsake,
To gaze at when I'm gone,
A letter sent from you to me,
To read when work is done,
A gently kiss to keep me warm,
On long and lonely nights,
And I'm the richest man on earth,
Without these earthly plights.
To see you standing at our door,
Sustains me come what may,
To breath your very soul at night,
Takes all my cares away,
You are my very reason,
The meaning of my life,
And I am happy evermore,
Since you became my wife.
