Outside the crickets chirp
The grass has dew
The moon shines as a half crescent
A circle shimmering around it
The stars shine brighter than before
Constellations come to life
Drawing history in the stars
The trees sway gently in the breeze
Their leaves rustle against each other
As the squirrels make themselves home
Each curling up against the other
Warm and safe in their tree home
The wild mustangs drift off to sleep
Their foals lying by their feet
At the mountains base
Whom reaches pass the clouds
A snow cap he wears
The owls awaken to enjoy the night
Swooping above the clouds
They hoot in joy
As the mice run for cover
Under fallen trees and bolt holes
The insects begin a song
Whose beat begins softy
Crescendoing in tempo
The battle cry of the insects
As they meet their enemies in the grass
Hidden from view of prying eyes
The grass covered in dew
Has many secrets hidden
The night itself is ageless
Never growing old and never growing young
It's seen horrors and lovers
Yet the night holds all a secret
As he watches everything
Nothing escapes his view
