Public Transport

Decided to get a bus to the cinema today. Haven't been on one for many years. Owning a car it's much more convenient to just jump in the motor and park next to where I'm going.
Due to my job I meet all sorts of people and I'm not easily frightened. I deal with the whole spectrum of humanity on a regular basis and feel well equipped to cope with any situation.
Well, that's how I felt before jumping on the bus today!
There I was, sat about 4 seats from the front. The bus stopped and an old man of about 70 shuffled onto the bus. He creaked as he sat down and then began to have a conversation with himself. Bizarre but not too unusual in my town. A town with not a lot of branches on the family tree.
Next stop and a female who looked as if she wasn't afraid of a whiskey or 2 got on. She was dressed in the kind of leather jacket, tight jeans and calf length boots combo she would have looked good in 20 years ago but now just made her look like the kind of dish the 'adult sheep appreciation society' would have drooled over.
Her companion, a person of non determined gender, possibly female(who knows? I certainly didn't),was dressed in the type of track suit hated by the British standards association due to it's flammable nature with the obligatory NY baseball cap perched on a head which was weirdly asexual but with a light downy hair on the top lip.
These 2 sat just in front of me and the light fragrance of last nights alcohol, this mornings alcohol and methadone sweat did not arouse the animal instinct in me at all.
For the next 5 minutes I eavesdropped on these 2 swapping tales of drunken drama whilst occasionally listening to old bloke tell his (non existent) companion that he was fed up with the weather.
All was going well until the next stop. The bus stopped and on walked a mountain of a man. 6'4" tall and around 20 stone. Denim everything with a full beard and hair so obviously uncut and unwashed for many months he made the local bikers look quite dapper and clean cut.
He bought his ticket and although there were many seats unoccupied he plonked himself next to the old chap and then began to talk to himself too.
I could not believe my comedic luck!
2 chaps sat next to each other having a full blown conversation, but not with each other. Golden!
I was sat there blissfully happy knowing I was the least dysfunctional person in the area, which is an unusual feeling for me, when man mountain turned round and stared straight at me. He then began to talk about going to the computer shop so he could sort my online security out. I thought,'shit mate, I only need basic, my days of dodgy porn sites are over' when I realised I didn't actually know him and hadn't initiated a conversation.
Mutton lady also turned round and looked at me knowingly before saying, ' I'm glad he's with you, shit myself thinking he was a weirdo talking to me at first.'
I just smiled at her and nodded. I don't know why.
Man mountain then faced forward and continued his monologue and all was calm until we reached the bus station.
I stood up to make my escape and man mountain said, 'alright mate, you wait outside while I say goodbye to the kids.'
I looked around to the back of the bus and my suspicions were confirmed, no kids on the bus!
The bus stopped, the doors opened, I jumped off relieved to be breathing in carcinogenic diesel fumes instead of methadone sweat and made a bolt for the relatively peaceful sanctuary of the heaving bus station.
After approximately 10 minutes of walking I regained my composure. I guess I was caught out as I was in unusual surroundings and relaxed.
I started thinking and realised that there had been a grand plan when people started closing psychiatric hospitals and moving to care in the community. Without care in the community I'd imagine bus companies would go out of business!

That is amazing, very funny but unfortunately, also very true. I am glad you survived to tell the tale as I enjoyed it! ๐Ÿ˜น๐Ÿ˜น๐Ÿ˜น
