Different: Part2

I slept in the living room that night, on the small sofa, with the thought of, "you don't need that much room, you can't use your legs."

It doesn't really work like that.

I had the worst night ever and when I woke up I had a face inches from mine. Scared? Yeah!
Her bright green eyes inches from my blue ones. She smiled slowly when I opened my eyes.
"Good morning" I smiled, slightly taken back.
She smiled again then held out her hand. I didn't take it, she wanted to pull me up, I just pointed to my wheelchair which had made its way across the room. She nodded then got it for me.
"What's your name?" I asked as I heaved myself into the chair.
"Tilly" She replied as she tried to push me. She was only tiny so it didn't work.
"I can push myself, Tilly" I smiled.
She twitched slightly. "She can push herself" She twitched again then smiled. "Okay, I'll lead the way"
I followed her to the dining room, watching her short dark brown hair bounce as she walked. It was interesting because she had hardly any hair, yet it still moved.
There was only one other person in the dining room when we got there and it was the boy from yesterday.

"How's your hand?" I asked as he looked up to see who walked in.
He looked down at his hand then shrugged.
"He's mute" Tilly smiled as she held out a bowl and plate to me. I took the bowl.
"But he spoke to me yesterday" I mumbled, watching him flick through a comic.
"Not possible, he hasn't spoken to anyone in years" She replied, filling her bowl with coco pops.
He looked up at me again, a smirk on his face, and he had a look in his eyes. I realised his eyes were two different colours then, one brown and one blue, but they were so subtle that I didn't realise at first.
The way he was smirking at me seemed like he was sharing a private joke with me. Something he wouldn't dare tell anyone.

I grabbed some coco pops too and joined Tilly at the table.
"Is this is then? Just us three?" I asked as she dug into her food.
"No, there are two others" She replied, her mouth filled with food. "Crag is in counselling and Dot won't be up until later. She was up late last night"
She laughed then twitched again. "Don't tell her the secret. Don't tell her. Shh" Her hand twitched against her lips then she twitched again and smiled.
"Messed up Tilly playing up again? And Marty mute still not talking?" A voice snarled behind us. A boy came round and sat down next to Marty. "Ah, and new girl? Alright, leggy?"
I took him in. The bar on his nose, which surely shouldn't be there, his grey eyes and short blonde hair. He didn't look old enough to be able to influence how Tilly and Marty felt but their heads dropped lower and I felt anger towards him.
"Yeah, my legs are lovely aren't they? I'm doing fine, thanks." I replied calmly.
"Ya can't use them, how are they lovely?" He snarled.
"I can use them and I will to stick my foot up your arse. What's your story then? Crag, right?" I replied, sharply.
He seemed taken back but didn't have time to answer back because the blonde nurse walked in. I'd have to learn her name. I hated being rude by calling her 'the blonde nurse' all the time.

"Everyone this is Carly" She smiled, indicating towards me.
"Already met her, Rachel. She's my best friend now" Tilly grinned.
Rachel smiled but it wasn't a happy one, it was a pained one. She didn't want me to talk to them and now one was calling me her best friend. That was the worst outcome ever in her eyes.
