Strangers with a purpose
A deadline to meet
Both too young for the pressure
Of the world at their feet
There's a smile on her face
And a shine in his eyes
They were open to the world
But sometimes it hurts and lies
Naive and innocent,
She was trying to be great
Innocent and charming,
He wanted to be her mate
Both different objectives
But secretly wanting the same thing
"Just say something you idiot"
His mind seemed to ring
The meeting was coming to an end
Soon time for her to go
He had to tell her
Let this stranger know
But she was gone too soon
Before he could say more
Before he could take her on a date
She was out that door
But they were just strangers
Caught up in working life
He hoped that one day he'd see her again
To release his heart's strife
They were just strangers
Without a single clue
Strangers with a purpose
But only if they knew
They were strangers met in a daydream
Two strangers met someway
Strangers met in person
Two strangers met imaginatively today
