She didn't even smile,
As we crossed paths
However she was kind enough
To cast me a sideways glance
But the skin by her eyes didn't crinkle
Her teeth never bared
As they usually do
When she shares-
A smile.
Instead her face was indifferent
Dull eyes
They were quite listless
I pictured
This encounter one other way
Where she grins upon seeing me
And with me she stays
Instead of walking separate paths
We would walk side by side
I would make her laugh
So the skin by her eyes would crinkle
Her teeth would be bared...
It would be like old times.
